The Smith & Wesson M&P9 Shield Plus took the slim, proven Shield and gave it more of everything that matters for concealed carry. This California compliant version features an optics ready slide, a manual thumb safety and a 3.1" stainless steel barrel, all in a micro-compact 9mm that is just 1.10" wide. The Armornite-finished slide resists corrosion and is cut for compact red dots, so you can add an optic for faster target acquisition.
A flat-face trigger with a tactile, audible reset makes the Shield Plus easier to shoot accurately, and the aggressive grip texture keeps it locked in your hand. Two 10-round magazines come standard. California Purchase Information
- CA Handgun Roster: Listed on the California DOJ Roster of Certified Handguns (roster entry: M&P9 Shield Plus OR CA 10RD - 14280).
- Who can buy: Purchasers must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid California Firearm Safety Certificate (FSC), provide proof of California residency and complete a safe-handling demonstration at pickup.
- Background check & waiting period: All sales are processed through DROS (Dealer Record of Sale) with a California DOJ background check and a mandatory 10-day waiting period. Pickup must be completed within 30 days of the DROS.
- Pickup / transfer only: Firearms are delivered in person at our Thousand Oaks store, or transferred through a licensed California firearms dealer. We do not ship firearms directly to individuals.
- Magazines: Ships with California-legal magazines limited to 10 rounds. Large-capacity magazines (over 10 rounds) cannot be sold or delivered in California.
- Taxes & fees: California’s 11% firearm and ammunition excise tax, sales tax and state DROS fees apply and are collected at the time of transfer.
- Safety device: A California DOJ-approved firearm safety device (lock) or proof of an approved gun safe is required with every firearm purchase.
Safe storage: Firearms must be stored securely and kept out of the reach of children and prohibited persons. Under California law, you may be guilty of a crime if a child or prohibited person gains access to a firearm that was not stored safely.
